Q: Explain it to me like I am five, what is One Dude Listening?
A: One Dude Listening (ODL) is a blog on mental health and life. My name is Alden and I am the one dude. I write all content here and they're absolutely free. If you like what I have to say, you may book me for my listening service. That's all.

Q: And what is this listening service?
A: You book me. We hop on a call. You talk to me about problems or challenges you're facing in life. I listen. That's it. More details here.
All listening calls are free for now.

Q: Is this like online therapy or counselling?
A: No. I am neither a therapist or counsellor. I am just one dude listening. I am not here to give advice on a scientific or medical level.

Q: Is this like life coaching?
A: No. I am not a life coach. Again, I am just one dude listening. I am not here to force motivational quotes down your throat. I also want to avoid the mainstream marketability life coaching has along with their expensive prices.

Q: If you're none of the above, why should I want to talk to you?
A: Because I strongly believe that the simple act of talking alone is powerful. Speak your mind and you'll feel better.

Instead of asking me, ask yourself this: When was the last time you actually got to talk about your struggles or perhaps even share about the things you love in life?

Do you even have anyone to talk to or confide in in the first place?

Do you have a fear of being judged by the people around you?

That's what I am here for. I am here to listen without any judgement. I am here to converse like a friend, or stranger if you prefer that.

Q: I am not sure if I am buying what you're selling here, much less your beliefs. Again, why should I really want to talk to you?
A: If you ask me, most of us today aren't talking enough. We're instead, busy "liking", sharing stuff, surfing social media at lightning-quick speed or swiping left/right.

When we do communicate, we're merely texting, sliding into DMs or finishing off the conversation with an emoji.

Perhaps it's time for one to take a breather, open up and speak. Express yourself for who you truly are and say what you really want to say. I am confident that as one dude, I can help you with that with an empathetic ear.
